Challenge

Serco Docklands (Serco) is the franchise operator of Docklands Light Railway (DLR), the light railway that serves south and east London, and excellent customer service is central to Serco’s ethos. As a lead DLR design and marketing agency since 2004, the marketing team asked Oculus to create a series of six engaging comic strips and complementary materials as part of its ‘Play Your Part’ internal communications campaign, aimed at helping drive a strong push to elevate customer satisfaction.

Solution

We created six cartoon-style customer-service superheroes and six passenger illustrations depicting characters in the Serco stories. We edited the stories into bite-sized chunks to fit the visuals, highlighting key messaging. We also created window vinyls for each passenger type and full-size cut-out superheroes featuring the slogan ‘Be a customer hero’. Our 15 by 2.8 metre wall graphics have already completely transformed the concrete tunnel linking Poplar station with the depot into a vibrant inspiring walkway.
